Live Fire Training at Monterey Regional Airport
Annual Training Onsite Next Week to Simulate Aircraft Fire Fighting
The Monterey Regional Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) provider, Monterey Fire Department, will be hosting live fire training at the airport from October 21, 2024 through October 25, 2024. Throughout the week, there will be fire personnel, multiple apparatus, and mutual aid agencies at the airport’s fire station simulating fire suppression with a mobile ARFF trainer.
The mobile trainer will have a live fire (controlled burn) training team on the ramp in front of the fire station each day beginning at approximately 8:00 AM and concluding by 5:00 PM. Passengers and airport visitors can expect to see fire fighting activities including smoke and flames during this training period. There will be no foam or agent used during the training, just water.
Monterey Regional Airport is committed to the safety of the passengers and users of MRY and this simulated aircraft fire fighting training provides annual certification for the ARFF Technicians required by the Federal Aviation Administration’s compliance for commercial service airports.
